These systems provide the utilities with more frequent and diverse data from the utilities' meters at specified intervals.

The Company�� advanced metering analytics (AMA), along with a host of automated utility management tools to facilitate the ability of water and gas utilities to increase their productivity and revenue, as well as proactively utilize their data. Back in March, things fell apart for lululemon athletica (NASDAQ: LULU  ) . The company had to pull product off the shelf, after it determined that the fabric in many of its pants was too sheer. That news hammered the stock, sending it down 8% in the week after the announcement. Lululemon jumped to make good on the bad news, and now it seems to have turned itself around. With first-quarter earnings coming out next week, what should investors be on the lookout for?

Product issues addressed
Since the 8% drop, Lululemon has rebounded like a Super Ball, up 30%. The company took relatively quick action, pulling the affected products, addressing customer issues, and removing the company's chief product officer in early April. The quick turnaround from shamefaced admission to triumphant return meant that competitors didn't have a chance to capitalize on the bad news.

Under Armour (NYSE: UA  ) and Gap (NYSE: GPS  ) both had a chance to make something of Lululemon's bad news, but neither acted quickly enough. As a result, Lululemon is likely to see less damage to its top and bottom lines in next week's earnings announcement. The company initially announced an impact on comparable sales of between 3% and 6%. I would be surprised if the damage was that bad, and the original comparable sales increase of 11% no longer seems out of reach.

Usually, it�� been negative. Over the 10 years, that single line has added up to a negative $173 million. Wow.

    Okay. Then there�� the difference between free cash flow and owner earnings. Owner earnings as you��l remember is Warren Buffett�� calculation of what a business could pay out to owners in cash at the end of the year ��if it stopped growing. But didn�� shrink. More on that later. For now, let�� look at the difference between Carbo�� depreciation and Carbo�� spending on property, plant and equipment.

    Over the last 10 years, cap-ex has been: $546 million (or $425 million if you allow cap-ex to provide cash flow in certain years, this is a weird issue I don�� want to touch right now)

    And over the last 10 years, depreciation has been: $201.52 million

    That�� a big gap. We��e got some combination of Carbo underreporting economic depreciation by anywhere from $225 million to $350 million or so ��or we��e got Carbo investing something like $225 million to $350 million in growth.

    Paul Sakuma/AP NEW YORK -- Hillshire Brands says it will hold separate talks with Pilgrim's Pride and Tyson Foods, as the two meat processing heavyweights engage in a bidding war for the maker of Jimmy Dean sausages and Ball Park hot dogs. The announcement by Hillshire (HSH) comes a day after Pilgrim's Pride raised its bid to $55 a share, or $6.8 billion, from $45 a share. That tops Tyson's offer of $50 a share, or $6.2 billion, made last week. Those values are based on Hillshire's 123 million shares outstanding. Pilgrim's Pride puts the total value of its new bid at $7.7 billion. Tyson Foods values its proposal at $6.8 billion, including debt. The takeover bids by Pilgrim's Pride (PPC) and Tyson Foods (TSN) are being driven by the desirability of brand-name, convenience products like Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. Those types of products are more profitable than fresh meat, such as chicken breasts, where there isn't as much wiggle room to pad prices. While Pilgrim's Pride and Tyson both sell such products, their businesses have been more focused on supplying supermarkets and restaurant chains. Both offers are contingent on Hillshire abandoning its plan to acquire Pinnacle Foods (PF), which makes Birds Eye frozen vegetables and Wish-Bone salad dressings.     Investors got ugly on beauty supplier Sally Beauty Holdings (SBH) and shares tumbled 14.4% in trading after it reported a disappointing fiscal third quarter.

    For the period ended June 30, Sally Beauty reported earnings of $72.5 million, or of 42 cents a shares, up from $69.5 million, or 37 cents, a year prior. Sally Beauty also reported revenue of $912.1 million.

    Analysts polled by Factset forecasted earnings of $930.5 million.

    In a press release on the company�� website, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Winterhalter noted some of the headwinds from the quarter and said, ��tore traffic from the non-Beauty Club Card customer in the Sally U.S. business was soft. We��e launched several initiatives specifically to address this customer and remain optimistic that traffic will recover over the next few months.��/p>

    Shares are up 16% in the past year.

    Another earnings short-squeeze prospect is professional beauty supplies specialty retailer Sally Beauty (SBH), which is set to release numbers on Thursday before the market open. Wall Street analysts, on average, expect Sally Beauty to report revenue of $945.38 million on earnings of 40 cents per share.

    The current short interest as a percentage of the float for Sally Beauty is notable at 4.6%. That means that out of 146.18 million shares in the tradable float, 6.77 million shares are sold short by the bears. The bears have also been increasing their bets from the last reporting period by 1.3%, or by 91,000 shares. If the bears get caught pressing their bets into a strong quarter, then shares of SBH could easily rip higher post-earnings as the bears scramble to cover some of their positions.

    From a technical perspective, SBH is currently trending above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which is bullish. This stock has been uptrending strong for the last four months, with shares moving higher from its low of $24.09 to its recent high of $29.73 a share. During that uptrend, shares of SBH have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of SBH within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade above some key overhead resistance levels.

    If you're bullish on SBH, then I would wait until after its report and look for long-biased trades if this stock manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $29.53 to $29.73 a and then above its 52-week high at $31.86 a share with high volume. Look for volume on that move that registers near or above its three-month average action of 939,032 shares. If that breakout develops post-earnings, then SBH will set up to trend towards $35 to $40 a share.

    I would simply avoid SBH or look for short-biased trades if after earnings it fails to trigger that breakout and then drops back below some

    CBS Corporation’s (CBS) outdoor advertising subsidiary, CBS Outdoor Americas Inc., has filed a registration with the SEC for the public offering of 20 million shares.

    CBS Outdoor Americas will trade under the ticker “CBSO,” and the IPO is expected to trade between $26 and $28 per share. According to CBS’s press release: “After the IPO, CBS Corporation will own approximately 83% of CBSO (or approximately 81% of the outstanding stock of CBSO if underwriters exercise their option to purchase additional shares in full).
